The “Drive Your 356 Day” was created to honor the birthday of Ferdinand “Ferry” Porsche, the German engineer credited with the development of our 356 cars. The Porsche 356 Registry takes a special interest in this annual event, asks its members for pictures of their cars driven on that day and it has scheduled the 2017 celebration for Sunday, September 17.

Like previous years, Jim Hobbins is organizing a Drive Your 356 Day brunch at Bassett’s Restaurant in Poolesville, Maryland, at 10:00 a.m. After brunch we will assemble the 356 cars for a DY356 Day photo at a nearby location.

All roads leading to Poolesville are two-lane country roads well suited for 356 driving. Poolesville is east of Leesburg, VA, and most directly accessed from there by White’s Ferry. Poolesville is west of Rockville, south of Frederick, and northwest of Washington, DC. Caution. As you approach Poolesville on MD-107, White’s Ferry Rd, from either direction, there are speed cameras in place.

Bassett’s Restaurant is located at 19950 Fisher Avenue, Poolesville, MD 20837. On their website, http://www.bassettsrestaurant.net/ you will see their brunch menu which features a good variety of offerings at reasonable prices. There is ample parking right behind the restaurant off Elgin Road.

It is important to let Jim know if you will attend by Thursday, September 14, so he can confirm our expected attendance with the restaurant. Please RSVP by email: jmhobbins@gmail.com or to phone 301-633-1826.
