We will hold our next 2018 Bi-Monthly Potomac 356 Owners Group Gathering on Sunday, April 8th at 10:00 AM. The location for this get-together will be Bassett’s Restaurant in Poolesville, Maryland. We have held the annual “Drive Your 356 Day” POG brunch at this restaurant for many years.

Bassett’s Restaurant is located at 19950 Fisher Avenue, Poolesville, MD 20837. On their website, http://www.bassettsrestaurant.net you can see their brunch menu which features a good variety of offerings at reasonable prices. There is ample parking right behind the restaurant off Elgin Road.

All roads leading to Poolesville are two-lane country roads well suited for 356 driving, (but watch out for the speed cameras in the vicinity of Poolesville). Poolesville is east of Leesburg, VA, and most directly accessed from there by White’s Ferry. Poolesville is west of Rockville, south of Frederick, and northwest of Washington, DC.

For those of you traveling from Northern Virginia on the I-495 Beltway and you’d like to avoid I-270, consider taking exit 39, MD-190 West, River Road toward Potomac. Follow River Rd for about 17 miles to West Willard Road, turn right onto West Willard Rd and take it north for 4 miles to Fisher Ave in Poolesville. Turn right on Fisher Ave, drive past Bassett’s and turn right onto Elgin Road to access the parking lot behind Bassett’s.

Please let Jim Hobbins know if you plan to attend by the end of the day on Thursday, April 5th, so he can confirm our expected attendance with the restaurant. RSVP by email (jmhobbins@gmail.com) or 301-633-1826.

POG members George Klouda and Tom Barrett have arranged for us to go on a shop tour at Chris’ Classic Restorations after our Brunch Gathering. Chris’ Classic Restorations is located almost due north (slightly northwest) from Bassett’s Restaurant. The sixteen (16.3) mile drive from Bassett’s to the shop is on pleasant two-lane roads and it will take about a half hour or less.

Any POG member may attend the shop tour, even if you don’t go to the Brunch. Use the street address or website link above to determine the best route for you to follow to Chris’ Classic Restorations.

Here’s a street view of the driveway leading to Chris’ Classic Restorations.

Please note that this shop tour is not recommended for children or pets. An auto shop environment has inherent dangers. For their safety, keep the kids & pets home. Thanks.
