Drive Your 356 Day
Sunday, September 16, 2012, 10:00am
Bassett’s Restaurant, Poolesville, Maryland
The “Drive Your 356 Day” was created to honor the birthday of Ferdinand “Ferry” Porsche (September 19, 1908-March 27, 1998), the wise German engineer credited with the development of our 356 cars. The Porsche 356 Registry takes a special interest in this annual event, asks its members for pictures of their cars driven on that day, and has scheduled the 2012 celebration for Sunday, September 16.
Like last year, Jim Hobbins is organizing a Drive Your 356 Day brunch at Bassett’s Restaurant in Poolesville, Maryland, at 10:00 a.m. All roads leading to Poolesville are two-lane country roads well suited for 356 driving. Poolesville is east of Leesburg, VA, and most directly accessed from there by White’s Ferry. Poolesville is west of Rockville, south of Frederick, and northwest of Washington, DC.
Bassett’s Restaurant is located at 19950 Fisher Avenue, Poolesville, MD 20837. On their website, www.bassettsrestaurant.net you will see their brunch menu which features a good variety of offerings at reasonable prices. There is ample parking right behind the restaurant off Elgin Road.
Bassett’s is looking forward to our visit and will give us priority seating on their patio or inside if the weather is poor.
Please let Jim know if you can come by Friday, September 1, so he can confirm our expected attendance with the restaurant. RSVP by email (jmhobbins@gmail.com).
