POG Spring Tour & Brunch

Frank Lloyd Wright’s Pope-Leighey House
Cedar Knoll Restaurant
On Sunday, April 7th, the Potomac 356 Owners Group will hold its first event of the spring season with a tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s Pope-Leighey House followed by a brunch at the nearby Cedar Knoll Restaurant. The Pope-Leighey House is located on the same grounds as the Woodlawn Plantation and The Arcadia Center (which POG visited in April, 2011) in Alexandria, Virginia just three miles from Mount Vernon.
Through the efforts of POG member Amy Risdal, we will have a private tour of the Pope-Leighey House. Our tour will begin at 10AM, so you will need to arrive by 9:30AM. Amy and her husband Nathan will be there to help guide our cars into the parking area. Parking is on-site close to the house and the Pope-Leighey House staff have said that they are excited to see our cars all lined up! The house tour will take approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour. We will most likely be split into smaller groups for our tour, depending on the number of POG attendees. Amy has secured a group rate for POG so the cost per person will only be $7.50 to tour this historic house.
After our tour of the Pope-Leighey House, POG members are encouraged to drive the short distance (about four miles) to the Cedar Knoll Restaurant for an informal brunch. Since the Pope-Leighey tours will be in small groups of POG members and guests, these groups can leave as they finish the tour and proceed to Cedar Knoll (the restaurant opens at 11:00AM). As people arrive at Cedar Knoll, the restaurant will seat us wherever the restaurant has tables. We are hoping that we will all be seated in the same room, but there is the chance that the restaurant might not be able to do that. Nevertheless, as POG members arrive they should ask to be seated with the other POG tables. Each person or couple will have to pay their brunch check separately.
